To explore the application value of Xuanqing Hehua Recipe in treating immunoglobulin A(IgA) nephropathy based on the theory of pharynx-kidney relationship.Methods:A total of 70 patients with IgA nephropathy who were admitted to Wuhan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from June 2019 to August 2021 were selected and divided into the control group(35 cases，conventional treatment) and the observation group(35 cases，Xuanqing Hehua Recipe on the basis of conventional treatment) by simple randomization method.After 24 weeks of treatment，the clinical efficacy，traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) symptom scores，serum IgA，urine red blood cell count，24 h urine total protein(24 h UTP)，serum creatinine(Scr)，blood urea nitrogen(BUN)，uric acid(UA)，estimated glomerular filtration rate(eGFR)，high-sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP)，interferon-gamma(IFN-γ)，tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)，interleukin-2(IL-2)，IL-4，IL-5，IL-6，IL-10 and adverse drug reactions were compared between the groups.Results:After 24 weeks of treatment，the clinical effect in the observation group was better and the TCM symptom scores were lower than those in the control group(both P<0.05).The observation group had decreased serum IgA，urine red blood cell count，24 h UTP，Scr，BUN，UA，hs-CRP and TNF-α while increased eGFR，IL-4，IL-5，IL-6 and IL-10 compared with the conditions in the control group(all P<0.05).There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:The use of Xuanqing Hehua Recipe combined with western medicine based on the theory of pharynx-kidney relationship can further enhance the clinical efficacy，relieve clinical symptoms and improve the renal function and inflammation of patients with IgA nephropathy，with high safety.
