The acupuncture effect is closely related to the brain functional activity.Functional near infrared spectroscopy(fNIRS) is a dynamic and visual technology, which forms images according to the difference of near-infrared light signals generated by different blood oxygen concentrations. It can be used to explore the brain function noninvasively and visually.Currently, the application of fNIRS in acupuncture research mainly focuses on the mechanism of acupuncture on diseases related to brain dysfunction, such as anxiety, depression, mild cognitive impairment(MCI),and post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD),with limitations. The application of fNIRS in acupuncture research can be further broadened, including regulation of higher nervous activity or visceral function, meridian theories, obtaining qi,and acupuncture manipulations, giving full play of fNIRS.This is conducive to demonstrating scientific acupuncture basis and theories.Additionally, deep exploration and mining can be conducted in different brain areas and data analysis, which helps reveal the mechanism of acupuncture in regulating brain function.
