To explore the mechanism of massage in reducing intraocular pressure in glaucoma by promoting the generation of aqueous humor prostaglandin and inducing the intraocular lymphatic hyperplasia in rats.Methods:Forty-eight SD rats were randomized into glaucoma model, massage, latanoprost, and massage+latanoprost groups(n=12).The aqueous humor samples were collected from each group at different time points during the treatment period for enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Western blotting,qPCR,immunofluorescence assay, and immunohistochemical staining were employed to determine the expression levels of prospero homeobox 1(Prox-1) and 5'-Nase.Histochemical staining was employ to detect the lymphatic hyperplasia in the ciliary body in each group. Results:The massage+latanoprost group had lower intraocular pressure(P<0.05),higher expression levels of Prox-1 and 5'-Nase(P<0.05),and higher rate of lymphatic hyperplasia in the ciliary body than other groups. Conclusion:Massage can promote the lymphatic hyperplasia in the ciliary body, which can facilitate the absorption of excess aqueous humor to reduce intraocular pressure.
