Bletilla striata(Thunb.) Reichb.f.is a traditional Chinese medicine which has the effects of hemostasis,anti-swelling,and promoting tissue regeneration, and is commonly used to treat traumatic bleeding, sores and swellings.Ancient records and modern clinical observations have found that B.striata has the effect of treating chronic refractory wounds.Aiming to investigate the active substance basis, pharmacological effects and mechanism of B.striata in the treatment of chronic refractory wounds in the present articles, the authors reviewed the recent reports on B.striata in China and at abroad. In the process of wound repair,B.striata exhibits pharmacological effects such as hemostasis,anti-inflammation,anti-microbial,antioxidant,immune modulation, promotion of epidermal growth factor proliferation, and collagen secretion. These effects contribute to promoting the healing of chronic refractory wounds by regulating the wound micro-environment The review also discusses the challenges and solutions in the clinical application of B.striata and looks forward to its prospects in the repair of chronic wounds, providing a theoretical basis for the rational development and utilization of B.striata resources for clinical wound care.
