To screen the clinical factors and biomarkers related to Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes of bronchial asthma,so as to provide a reference for the objective study of TCM syndromes. Methods:A total of 390 patients with bronchial asthma admitted and treated in the Respiratory Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan University of Chinese Medicine were selected as the study subjects by cross-sectional clinical investigation method.Their clinical characteristics were collected, and related serum biomarkers were detected. The SPSS 23.0 database was established, and the single factor analysis, logistic regression analysis, and Spearman correlation analysis were used. Two of the three methods with statistical significance were selected as relevant factors. Results:A total of 390 patients with bronchial asthma were recruited, and the relatively complete data of 293 patients were analyzed.External cold and internal fluid retention syndrome was correlated with age and asthma control test(ACT) score; phlegm-dampness obstructing lung syndrome was correlated with gender, smoking history, mobility group protein B1(HMGB1),and Eotaxin; wind phlegm blocking lung syndrome was correlated with age and ACT score; lung Qi deficiency syndrome was correlated with ACT score,HMGB1,interferon-gamma(IFN-γ),and Periostin; spleen Qi deficiency syndrome was correlated with ACT score; kidney Qi deficiency syndrome was correlated with IFN-γ; kidney Yang deficiency syndrome was correlated with transforming growth factor-β2(TGF-β2) and TNF-α; lung and spleen Qi deficiency syndrome was correlated with ACT score; Lung and kidney Qi deficiency syndrome was correlated with age,ACT score, and course of disease; lung and kidney Yang deficiency syndrome was correlated with nationality,ACT score, and IL-4(P<0.05).Conclusion:Serum HMGB1,Eotaxin,IFN-γ,Periostin,TGF-β2,TNF-α,and IL-4 may be potential biomarkers of TCM syndromes of bronchial asthma.Gender, age, nationality, smoking history, course of disease, and ACT score are related to TCM syndrome of asthma. However, the conclusions need to be confirmed by studies from multiple national institutions.
