To explore the expression of mucin 5B(MUC5B),mucin 5AC(MUC5AC),and Toll-like receptor 2(TLR2) in the nasal mucosa of the rats with allergic rhinitis(AR) due to cold syndrome and treated with Biminning Granules. Methods:Sixty rats were randomized into 6 groups:blank control, model, positive control(Xinqin Granules,5 g/kg,2 mL per time),and low-,medium-,and high-dose(0.5,1,and 2 g/kg,respectively) Biminning Granules. The successfully modeled rats were administrated with corresponding drugs or 0.9% sodium chloride(blank control and model groups) by gavage once a day for 7 days. The immunohistochemical assay was employed to localize the expression of TLR2 in the nasal mucosa.Western blotting was employed to determine the expression levels of MUC5B and MUC5AC in the nasal mucosa. Results:Positive staining was significantly attenuated in the Biminning groups, and the model group showed significant differences compared with other groups(P<0.05).Compared with the model group, medium and high-dose Biminning groups showcased down-regulated expression of MUC5B and MUC5AC(P<0.05).Conclusion:Biminning Granules can reduce the immune damage to the nasal mucosa by down-regulating the expression of MUC5B,MUC5AC,and TLR2,thereby treating AR in rats.
