To observe the clinical effect of Tuina combined with celecoxib on lumbar disc herniation and provide reliable medical evidence for clinical application. Methods:Eighty patients with lumbar disc herniation treated in the Department of Tuina in the Yueyang Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine from March 2021 to January 2022 were randomized into an observation group(n=40) and a control group(n=40).The observation group was treated with Tuina combined with celecoxib, and the control group was treated with oral celecoxib alone. The treatment in both groups lasted for 4 weeks.Outcome variables measured included the Visual Analog Scale(VAS) score, the Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire(SF-MPQ) score, and the Oswestry Disability Index(ODI).Results:The response rate of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(P<0.01).Both the observation group and the control group showed decreased VAS and SF-MPQ scores after treatment(P<0.001),and the decreases were more significant in the observation group than in the control group(P<0.001).The ODI declined after treatment in both groups(P<0.01),especially in the observation group(P<0.01).Conclusion:Tuina combined with celecoxib is superior to oral celecoxib alone in relieving lumbar pain and improving the lumbar function in the patients with lumbar disc herniation.
