Huangqi Decoction(Astragali Radix and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma)，first recorded in the Formulary of the Bureau of Taiping People's Welfare Pharmacy(Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang)，is known for its functions of tonifying the middle，benefiting qi，and generating fluids，and is used to treat various forms of deficiency.As a classic formula in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)，Huangqi Decoction is widely applied in clinical practice for treating a range of diseases and syndromes characterized by deficiency based on syndrome differentiation.Previous clinical observations and experimental studies have confirmed that Huangqi Decoction can significantly enhance the synthetic capacity of the liver，effectively delay the progression of liver fibrosis and cirrhosis，and improve complications related to portal hypertension caused by liver cirrhosis.This review aimed to summarize the progress in basic and clinical research on Huangqi Decoction，including its whole formula，individual components，and active ingredients，in relation to its anti-fibrotic effects and its role in the prevention and treatment of liver cirrhosis and its complications.
