Depression is characterized by a loss of pleasure and feelings of pessimism and hopelessness, often accompanied by symptoms such as anxiety, anorexia,or insomnia. Its high relapse rate and suicide risk impose significant psychological and economic burdens on patients and their families.Although antidepressant medications can be effective, their slow onset and tendency to relapse limit their clinical use.Acupuncture,as a traditional Chinese therapeutic method, offers unique advantages in treating depression due to its multi-target and multi-pathway characteristics.Recent studies have highlighted the important role of immune homeostasis in the development of depression, and reports on acupuncture's ability to modulate immune function have been increasing both in China and abroad.
