Qingjin Huatan Decoction，a classic formula from Medical General Purpose(Yi Xue Tong Zhi)，is known for its effects in clearing heat，resolving phlegm，and ventilating and descending lung qi.It is widely used in clinical settings to treat respiratory diseases primarily characterized by phlegm-heat obstructing the lungs.Research has demonstrated that Qingjin Huatan Decoction is effective in treating various respiratory conditions，including pneumonia，severe pneumonia，acute exacerbations of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)，bronchiectasis，chronic bronchitis，and lung cancer.It alleviates clinical symptoms，enhances immune function，improves lung function and blood gas analysis，and reduces inflammatory markers.At the fundamental research level，Qingjin Huatan Decoction exerts its therapeutic effects by modulating autophagy，regulating iron metabolism，enhancing immune responses，exhibiting antiviral properties，and mediating various signaling pathways，thereby reducing inflammatory responses and relieving lung injury to treat respiratory diseases.To better apply Qingjin Huatan Decoction in modern respiratory diseases，this article summarizes information from ancient literature analysis，clinical studies，and basic research to provide scientific evidence for the treatment of respiratory diseases with this classic formula and inform future drug development.
