Asparagus officinalis L.has significant medicinal value and is rich in active components, primarily including polysaccharides, flavonoids, steroids, steroid saponins, volatile oils, phenolic compounds, carboxylic acids, and amino acids. It exhibits various pharmacological effects, such as anti-tumor,lipid-lowering,blood sugar-lowering,blood pressure-lowering,and antioxidant properties. This review focused on the active components and pharmacological effects of A.officinalis L.,and conducted a predictive analysis of quality markers(Q-markers) of A.officinalis L.by integrating the theory of Q-markers in Chinese medicine from the aspects such as plant's phylogenetic relationships, the uniqueness of its chemical components, clinical efficacy, traditional effects, five flavor theory, and the measurability of its chemical constituents. The preliminary results suggested that rutin, quercetin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin, sarsasapogenin, chlorogenic acid, cinnamic acid, gallic acid, coumarin, and ferulic acid could serve as potential Q-markers for A.officinalis L.,aiming to provide references for the quality evaluation research of this plant.
