Abstract:Objective Based on the clinical features of lumbar disc herniation(LDH) in traditional Chinese and western medicine, the LDH animal model and evaluation index with high clinical anastomosis were constructed. Methods According to the diagnostic indexes of LDH in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) and Western medicine clinical practices, evaluation was conducted respectively on the clinical anastomosis of the LDH animal model and the LDH diagnostic criteria of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. For each of the first five diagnostic criteria of LDH in Western medicine,a score of 25% was assigned for each criterion met.If three or more(including three) of these criteria were met,a score of 75% was assigned. If the sixth criterion was met,a score of 25% was assigned. For TCM clinical syndromes,a score of 20% was assigned for each principal syndrome met,and a score of 8% for each secondary syndrome met.Based on the assignment, the advantages and disadvantages of the existing LDH animal model and the clinical anastomosis were analyzed.Afterward, the evaluation index of the LDH animal model combining TCM and Western medicine disease and syndrome was preliminarily proposed. Results The LDH animal models with high clinical anastomosis mainly include the nerve root injury model of autologous and allogeneic nucleus pulposus transplantation and the anulus fibrosus injury model of direct acupuncture. The other LDH animal models are categorized into models with general and low clinical anastomosis. Conclusion The existing LDH animal models cannot effectively simulate the whole disease process and state of LDH,and lack the correct reflection of TCM syndrome. Therefore,it is necessary to further explore and improve the construction of LDH disease-syndrome combined animal models with high clinical anastomosis and their evaluation indexes.
