Vascular Aging and Pan-vascular Disease in the Elderly:Reflections on the Prevention and Treatment Strategy of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine
Vascular aging is characterized by vascular dysfunction and the structural aging of the vascular system, serving as an important pathological basis for the aging of various systems and organs in the body.Pan-vascular diseases refer to a group of vascular system diseases characterized by a common pathological feature of atherosclerosis.Vascular aging plays a key role in the occurrence and progression of pan-vascular diseases.Aging blood vessels provide an environment for the onset and development of pan-vascular diseases, while pan-vascular diseases,in turn, accelerate the process of vascular aging. Both are interdependent.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) explains the pathogenesis of pan-vascular diseases in the elderly from the perspective of vascular aging and provides strategies for the prevention and treatment of these diseases. The integrated approach of TCM and Western medicine in delaying vascular aging and preventing pan-vascular diseases includes identifying vascular health status and risk factors to promote early intervention in the prevention and treatment of pan-vascular diseases, establishing an intervention model that combines diseases and syndromes to reduce vascular aging and block the progression of pan-vascular diseases, and conducting interdisciplinary, systematic prevention and personalized interventions. This study is expected to provide ideas for the future integration of TCM and Western medicine to delay vascular aging-related pan-vascular diseases.
