The pathogenesis of cancer-related insomnia(CRI) is complex.Modern medicine points out that CRI involves multiple factors, including immune-neurotransmitter imbalance and circadian rhythm disturbances. The autonomic nervous system and its regulated immune-neurotransmitters share regulatory properties similar to the yin-yang duality described in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).Acupuncture and moxibustion, based on TCM theory, employ yin-nourishing and yang-subduing acupoints to exert multi-target effects. They regulate the synthesis and release of both positive and negative central immune-neurotransmitters,maintaining the yin-yang balance of circadian rhythms, thus improving insomnia caused by an excess of yang and deficiency of yin.Additionally, acupuncture and moxibustion can alleviate cancer-related symptoms and the side effects of CRI treatment, reducing the risk of drug interactions.
