To analyze the characteristics and distribution patterns of hepatotoxicity induced by Chinese medicine based on Traditional Chinese Medicine System Toxicology Database(TCMSTD).Methods:A total of 252 drugs recorded in the TCMSTD were retrieved, with 114 identified as having hepatotoxic effects.Relevant literature was reviewed, and frequency algorithms were used to summarize the distribution patterns of hepatotoxic drugs in terms of therapeutic categories, properties(such as the four qi and five flavors),meridian tropism, and toxic components. Results:The largest proportion of hepatotoxic drugs belong to categories such as wind and dampness-dispelling and heat-clearing drugs. These drugs are primarily bitter and cold, and they often act on the liver, lung, spleen, and stomach meridians.Alkaloids are the main hepatotoxic active components.Hepatotoxicity manifests as liver cell damage and inflammatory responses, with mechanisms involving oxidative stress and apoptosis.Traditional processing methods, such as alcohol and vinegar processing, are used to reduce toxicity. Conclusion:Understanding the characteristics and distribution patterns of hepatotoxicity induced by Chinese medicine through the TCMSTD is crucial for ensuring the safety of clinical use.
