Abstract〓National traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) master SHI Qi is a founding figure in TCM orthopaedic medicine. His work,Traditional Chinese Orthopaedic Medicine, provides a comprehensive exposition of fundamental theories, syndrome differentiation and treatment methods, clinical applications, and future directions for the discipline.Based on an in-depth understanding of this text, this study summarizes Professor SHI's academic thought on treating orthopaedic diseases in TCM.His treatment philosophy is rooted in a holistic view and the yin-yang and Five Elements, with syndrome differentiation based primarily on the Eight Principles. It is further characterized by key concepts such as “prioritizing qi and blood, harmonizing the Zangfu organs, integrating movement and stillness, emphasizing both sinews and bones, and regarding Shaoyang as the pivot”.These principles provide valuable insights for clinical diagnosis and treatment in TCM orthopedics and traumatology.
