In recent years, traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has played an increasingly important role in international healthcare and has garnered significant attention for its remarkable therapeutic effects. This has not only earned TCM widespread recognition within the global community but also created favorable opportunities for its cross-cultural communication worldwide. However, many challenges still exist in the international communication of TCM.Focusing on the Republic of Indonesia, this study reviews the current state of TCM dissemination in terms of media, content, and methods. It identifies several challenges facing TCM in Indonesia, including underdeveloped TCM-related policies, strong competition from other medical systems, and relatively low levels of TCM education.Based on these findings, and using the “5W” communication model, the study proposes several recommendations:strengthen cooperation between TCM educational institutions in China and Indonesia, enhance integration between TCM and Indonesian traditional medicine, establish TCM centers in Indonesia, improve relevant TCM legal and regulatory frameworks, address the needs of the Indonesian population, and promote localized research on TCM in Indonesia. These measures aim to effectively improve communication and promote the development of TCM in Indonesia
