To discuss the process and content of comprehensive Chinese medicine(CM) legislation in New Zealand for beneficial implications.Methods:The comprehensive CM legislation process in New Zealand was reviewed by examining the process and interpreting the legal sentences.Then,the legislation content,characteristics,and requirements were demonstrated in the aspects of CM education and CM practitioner qualification.Finally,based on domestic and foreign factors in New Zealand,an analysis was performed on the factors for the comprehensive CM legislation.Results:The CM legislation was completed in 2021,which took 32 years since 1990.The law was enacted to establish a CM administration under the Health Practitioners Competence Assurance Act 2003,officially incorporating CM into the health and medical profession in New Zealand.According to the law,CM was categorized into Chinese herbal medicine,acupuncture,and tui na massage therapy.Regulations and requirements regarding CM education and practice qualification were also released.Conclusion:Comprehensive legislation has offered ideas for the further development of CM in New Zealand and other countries
