To explore the effects of electroacupuncture stimulation on spinal cord injury(SCI) repair under the guidance of the theory of “treating the same disease with different therapies” by electroacupuncture stimulation of the governor vessel acupoint and the foot yang brightness stomach channel acupoint in SCI rats. Methods:A total of 120 Sprague Dawley(SD) rats were randomly divided into five groups:a governor vessel electroacupuncture group,a foot yang brightness stomach channel electroacupuncture group,a mixed electroacupuncture group,an injury control group, and a sham operation group using a random number table, with 24 rats in each group. Then,in the same method, each group was randomly divided into a pre-intervention group,as well as 7-day,14-day,and 21-day after treatment groups, with 6 rats in each subgroup. The motor function recovery of SCI rats' lower limbs was observed from the visual angle of the spinal injury motor function evaluation tool BBB score.Cell morphological changes were observed by immunohistochemistry and the microscopic morphology of the transmission electron microscope. Results:Compared with the injury control group, the BBB scores increased to some extent with the increase of time in the foot yang brightness stomach channel electroacupuncture group, the governor vessel electroacupuncture group, and the mixed electroacupuncture group.Compared with the injury control group, there were significant differences between each time point in the above three groups(P<0.05),especially in the mixed electroacupuncture group. As time passed, the bleeding, inflammation, and steatosis of SCI cells gradually decreased, with the SCI cell morphology being gradually repaired. Conclusion:Electroacupuncture stimulation of different meridians and acupoints at different time points can improve the BBB score of SCI rats, reduce bleeding, inflammatory exudation, and steatosis,as well as repair cell morphology, promoting spinal nerve cell regeneration. Therefore,it is proved that the theory of “treating the same disease with different therapies” in traditional Chinese medicine is of guiding significance in nerve regeneration and rehabilitation.
