The onset and development of chronic fatigue syndrome(CFS) are associated with immune system disorders, mental and psychological abnormalities, and neuroendocrine system imbalances. At the onset of CFS,intestinal flora can be involved through the above pathways. The “one qi circulation” theory is based on the spleen and soil. The mediation of the spleen and soil leads to the ascending of wood and fire,as well as the descending of gold and water, making the middle qi unimpeded and preventing disease.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) believes that the intestinal flora is connected to the spleen soil.Intestinal flora disorder can cause the qi movement disorder in spleen soil, unfavorable ascending, descending, and rotation,as well as an uncertain center axis, which results in blood stasis and qi stagnation, phlegm and turbid obstruction, and ultimately triggers CFS.Therefore, the treatment should stabilize the center axis and turn the four wheels smoothly to make the spleen soil qi flow all over the body and regulate the intestinal microbial homeostasis to promote the organism's harmony.
