Coronary heart disease(CHD) is a cardiovascular disease with a relatively high incidence rate, with myocardial ischemia injury as its persistent pathological change.Ferroptosis,a newly emerged non-apoptotic programmed cell death,is a part of the pathological process in CHD myocardial ischemia injury.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has a unique understanding of the etiology and pathogenesis of diseases, while the characteristics of ferroptosis and its mechanism of exacerbating myocardial injury are consistent with the pathogenesis of “stasis and toxin” in TCM.Combining in-depth research on ferroptosis and CHD by modern medicine and pharmacology, this paper explored the correlation between ferroptosis and myocardial injury based on the “stasis and toxin” theory. Then, this paper excavated the TCM connotation of CHD myocardial ferroptosis and explained the mechanism of blood-activating and toxin-removing TCM in treating myocardial ferroptosis injury. It is aimed to provide a theoretical reference for the prevention and treatment of CHD by TCM.
