Gastric cancer, one of the malignant tumors with high mortality rates worldwide, represents the end stage of various gastric diseases. With a high incidence and mortality rate,it severely affects the life quality of patients. Therefore, its prevention and treatment have always been of great concern.Epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT) is a cellular biological process that refers to the transition of epithelial cells into mesenchymal cells.During this process, cells lose the epithelial cell characteristics, such as cell polarity and intercellular connections, while acquiring the mesenchymal cell characteristics, such as mobility and apoptosis resistance. In recent years, the important role of EMT in tumor progression and metastasis has gradually become a research hotspot.EMT is believed to play a crucial role in the infiltration, metastasis, and drug resistance of gastric cancer.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM),as a traditional treatment method with unique advantages and potential, plays an important role in cancer progression.Increasing evidence suggests that certain Chinese herbal monomers and compound formulas can regulate the EMT by affecting EMT-related factors, protein expression, signaling pathways, including Wnt,nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB),transforming growth factor-β(TGF-β),and so on,thereby inhibiting the gastric cancer progression.
