Abstract:To observe the influence of acupuncture on metabotropic glutamate receptors in rats with ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Methods: The rats were randomly divided into three groups: the control group(groupⅠ), the model group(group) and the treatment group(group Ⅲ), each for 30 rats. Focal cerebral ischemia was induced by occlusion of the middle cerebral artery (MCA) using the intraluminal filament technology. Acupuncture intervention was given to the treatment group for 30 minutes before death. The changes of metabotropic glutamate receptors in brain tissue of rats were observed. Results: The level of receptors in group Ⅱ increased with time, and the difference between before and after treatment showed statistical significance(P<0.05). Besides, the level of receptors in group Ⅲ increased. However, the level of mGluR1, mGluR3 and mGluR8 after 24 hours decreased compared with group Ⅱ. This suggested that the level of mGluR1, mGluR3 and mGluR8 was inhibited after acupuncture. Conclusion: Acupuncture can inhibit the level of metabotropic glutamate receptors in rats with ischemic cerebrovascular disease, and then reduce the injury of brain tissue.
