Abstract:To explore the clinical curative effect of Xuanbi decoction treating acute gouty arthritis. Methods: One hundred and sixteen patients with acute gouty arthritis disease were randomly divided into treatment group (n=58) and control group (n=58). Patients in both group received symptomatic treatment at the same time and patients in treatment group were given extra administration of Xuanbi decoction for two treatment courses. Blood Uric Acid, ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and (CRP )C-reaction Protein before and after the treatment were observed. Statistical analysis was also implemented by using “t” test, rank sum test and “χ2” test on observation results. Results: There were reduction of Blood Uric Acid, ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate) and (CRP) C-reaction Protein (t=7.7097, P<0.05; t=29.1362, P<0.05; t=10.2993, P<0.05) in treatment group after treatment, and all items had statistic significance; For the control group, there was reduction of (CRP)C-reaction Protein after treatment (t=24.0192, P<0.05), and the item had statistic significance. But there were no reduction of blood Uric Acid or ESR(erythrocyte sedimentation rate) (t=1.9309, P>0.05; t=1.7380, P>0.05),and neither items had statistic significance. After two courses of treatment, the treatment group showed better results in affecting Blood Uric Acid, ESR(erythrocyte sedimentation rate),C-reaction Protein(CRP) than control group (Uc=4.0915, P<0.05; Uc=2.4031, P<0.05; Uc=7.4011, P<0.05). The ORR (overall response rate) of treatment group was 96.5% while that of control group was 86.5%, and the cure rate and improvement rate of treatment group were higher than those of control group. There was statistically significant difference between the two groups (χ2=9.28, P<0.01). Conclusion: Xuanbi decoction has definite therapeutic effect for the acute gouty arthritis disease. The treatment group showed better results than the control group, and 6-month follow-up showed low recurrence rate.
