Abstract:Vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) is a specific growth factor which promotes the vascular endothelial growth. After hypoxic-ischemic brain injury, VEGF has the capable of promoting angiogenesis and neurogenesis, protecting the neurons, and stimulating the proliferation of astrocytes. This paper reviewed the role of VEGF and its receptors in hypoxic-ischemic brain injury.
