Professor Wang Qingguo is a tenured professor in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine and among the fifth group of state-leveled prestigious senior Chinese medicine. He has been engaged in clinical work for 40 years, and also has profound knowledge in academic studies, especially on the academic thought of Zhang Zhongjing. Professor Wang believes that ephedra should not only be used as a strong diaphoretic herb, as its core efficacy is to make Yang Qi ascend. With proper compatibility, it can be used to disperse, promote and open wide of Qi. This paper summarized Professor Wang’s experience on ephedra usage in the treatment of various syndromes, and it can be taken as a reference to other researchers.
