Abstract:To explore expression changes of TGF-β1 and ET-1 of lung tissues in asthmatic rats after the effect of Maxingersantang decoction. Methods: Forty Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into 4 groups: normal group, model group, Maxingersantang decoction group, and dexamethasone group, 10 rats in each group. Except the normal group, Rats were sensitized by ovalbumin(OVA) and Aluminum hydroxide powder to establish asthmatic model for two weeks, then different medicine were used respectively for intervention after the first sensitization. After 20 days of treatment, the rats were killed and lung tissues were taken to observe the weight, the lung coefficient as well as histopathological changes and ELIEA method was used to measure the level of TGF-β1 and ET-1. Results: 1) Compared with the normal group, the model group’s rats’ weight was less while the lung coefficient, the thickness of airway wall and smooth muscle and the levels of TGF-β1 and ET-1 increased (P<0.05). 2)Compared with the model group, lung coefficient, the thickness of airway wall and smooth muscle, the levels of TGF-β1 and ET-1 all decreased significantly for the two drug intervention groups (P<0.05). Maxingersantang decoction had better effect on decreasing the thickness of airway wall and smooth muscle. Conclusion: There is positive correlation between TGF-β1, ET-1 and airway remodeling. Maxingersantang decoction can delay the airway remodeling in treating asthma by reducing contents of TGF-β1 and ET-1 in lung tissues.
