By analysis the clinical function, synergy and application laws of wind medicine on treating allergic rhinitis ancient formulas, we hope to provide references for the clinical application of this kind of medicine and improve and improve the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine in treating Allergic Rhinitis. Methods: The ancient formulas for allergic rhinitis which have Wind-Medicines in Dictionary of Chinese Medicine Prescription were selected. We analyzed the specific use and compatibility law of the Wind-Medicine. Results: Thirty-three ancient formulas have Wind-Medicines in the forty formulas for treating Allergic Rhinitis. The Wind-Medicines have various functions in different formulas such as ventilating and dispersing pathogenic factors, activating yang and promoting qi， relieving stagnation, smoothing qi to drain phlegm, pungent dispersing and dredging nasal orifices, meridian guiding, pungent dispersing and dredging collaterals, regulating stomach ascending qi. Conclusion: The Wind-Medicine can ascend yang and drop turbid yin to make qi flow smoothly by dispersing pathogenic factors, activating yang, relieving liver depression, coordinating qi, relieving stagnation and due to the function of Wind-Medicine, the allergic rhinitis can be cured.
