Primary varicose veins is one of the most common diseases in the lower extremity superficial vein system, which is combined with superficial thrombophlebitis would remain patients disabled and even increase the risk of death from pulmonary embolism due to deep vein thrombus spread. Although the anti-coagulation, anti-inflammatory, and anti-platelet therapy have a good clinical effect on superficial thrombophlebitis, it could cause the condition to repeat. Therefore, surgical treatment is recognized the most radical of means in curing the disease. Traditional Chinese Medicine can improve prognosis and shorten the course of the disease. There is a cooperative action between western medicine treatment and TCM. This paper mainly discussed the TCM and western medicine treatment of primary varicose veins of lower extremity with superficial thrombophlebitis so as to provide references for its application in the clinic.
