To explore the clinical application of Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii based on the literature in the last 20 years,to analyze and discuss the medication characteristics of Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii,to present the medication situation of Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii,and to provide reference for the clinical application of Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii.Methods:Clinical research literature taken Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii as the main medicine in the China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP）and Wanfang was retrieved by computer,and the retrieval time was from January 1997 to December 2017.Clinical research literature,which was about randomized trials,half-randomized trials or trails with good clinical efficacy were screened and included.From the aspects like compatibility frequency,main diseases of indications,syndromes of indications,etc,metrological analysis and summary was performed.Results:The top 3 frequently used medicines compatible with Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii were:Rhizoma Chuanxiong,Radix Saposhnikoviae and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae.The diseases of indications in the top 3 were:cervical spondylosis,knee osteoarthritis and migraine.The syndromes of indications in the top 3 were:wind,cold and dampness evils,meridians being blocked as well as inhibited qi and blood.Conclusion:Rhizoma et Radix Notopterygii is mainly compatible with medicines of activating blood as well as dispelling wind and relieving pain; it is mainly used in the treatment of cervical spondylosis,knee osteoarthritis and migraine; and it is mainly used in the syndromes of pain due to cold impediment and qi-blood being blocked.
