To investigate the effects of Duhuo Jisheng Decoction on the levels of high mobility group protein-1(HMGB-1),C-reactive protein(CRP)and procalcitonin(PCT)in patients with osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture(OVCF).Methods:A total of 92 patients with OVCF admitted to Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine between April 2015 and September 2016 were selected and randomly divided into a control group and an observation group, according to random number table, with 46 cases in each group. Both groups were treated with percutaneous kyphoplasty. The control group was given routine treatment, while the observation group was added with Duhuo Jisheng Decoction on this basis. Both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The fracture healing, bone density of femoral neck and the score of JOA at 2 weeks after operation of the 2 groups, the levels of inflammatory medium before and 3 days after operation, the score of visual analogue scale(VAS)at 1 d,3 d and 7 d after operation were compared between the 2 groups. Results:Compared with preoperative,2 weeks after operation, the anterior height of injured vertebra, bone density of femoral neck and the score of JOA in both groups increased, and the observation group were higher than the control group(P<0.01).The wedge angle and Cobb angle of kyphosis in both groups decreased, and the observation group were lower than the control group(P<0.01); the levels of serum TNF-α,CRP,PCT and HMGB-1 in the 2 groups increased 3 days after operation, and the levels of those in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.01).Compared with those 1 d after operation,VAS scores in both groups decreased 3 d and 7 d after operation, and the observation group was lower than the control group(P<0.01).Conclusion:The treatment of OVCF with Duhuo Jisheng Decoction can reduce the level of inflammatory mediators in patients, relieve pain, improve osteoporosis symptoms thus contributing to the promotion of fracture healing of patients and improving the curative effect.
