To explore the clinical efficacy and action mechanism surrounding acupuncture combined with massage for the treatment of knee osteoarthritis(KOA).Methods:A total of 62 patients with knee osteoarthritis admitted to the outpatient clinic of Guoyitang,Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine,Xianlin Hospital of Qixia District and Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine from Nov.2017 to Dec.2018 were selected and were divided into a control group and an observation group according to different treatment methods,with 32 cases in each group.In the control group,the mainly acupoints were:Yanglingquan(GB34),Ashi point,Dazhu(BL11),Xiyan(EX-LE4),Xuehai(SP10),Liangqiu(St34),the matching points changed with symptoms,mild reinforcing and attenuating,combined with massage.The observation group chose acupoints around the knee joint and Ashi point and surrounding acupuncture combined massage.6 times were one course.After 2 consecutive courses,the symptom,sign score and the effective rates of the 2 groups were recorded,follow-up assessment was conducted again after 2 month.Results:After 2 courses,the effective rate was 93.75%(30/32)in treatment group,which was higher than 86.67%(26/30)in control group.Conclusion:The use of surrounding acupuncture and massage on treating knee osteoarthritis is simple and convenient,which can relieve the symptoms of patients quickly and recover the function of joint movement and improve the quality of their life.The long-term efficacy is also positive.
