To summarize and analyze characteristics and laws of acupoint selection in treatment of chronic urinary retention with acupuncture and moxibustion.Methods:Characteristics of acupuncture and moxibustion for treatment of chronic urinary retention in terms of syndrome differentiation and meridian differentiation，rules of acupuncture and moxibustion for treatment prescription，and characteristics of treatment methods were summarized and analyzed by establishment of acupuncture and moxibustion prescription database and application of data mining technology after electronically retrieving documents of acupuncture and moxibustion for treatment of chronic urinary retention from Chinese and English databases(2009—2019).Results:A total of 36 papers were included.Through statistical analysis，it was found that acupuncture and moxibustion are used to treat this disease:1)Common acupoints in acupuncture prescription were Sanyinjiao(SP6，8.9%)，Zhongji(CV3，8.9%)，Guanyuan(CV4，8.9%)，Zusanli(ST36，7.0%)，Qihai(CV6，5.8%).2)Treatment of this disease usually focused on disease differentiation.Meridians identified involve bladder meridian of foot Taiyang，ren meridian，spleen meridian of foot Taiyin and stomach meridian of foot Yangming.3)Selected acupoints was mainly in lumbosacral region and lower abdomen.4)Attributes of specific points from high to low were:front-mu points(18.3%)，five-shu points(15.1%)，back-shu points(10.1%);(5)Acupuncture was commonly used in treatment.Conclusion:Acupuncture and moxibustion treatment of chronic urinary retention is mainly based on disease differentiation and acupoint selection，mainly involving bladder meridian，ren meridian and spleen meridian of foot Taiyin.Method of selecting acupoints at near part and selecting acupoints at far part is adopted to regulate functions of all viscera and enable urination to pass by itself.
