Hashimoto thyroiditis belongs to the category of gall disease in traditional Chinese medicine(TCM).The liver is the foundation of dysfunction and regulates the circulation of qi and blood，the six channels of qi，and the functions of the five internal organs.The main cause of gall disease is emotional dissatisfaction，the core pathogenesis is liver failure，the dysfunction of the five internal organs and the abnormal movement of the qi，resulting in pathological products congested in the meridians.Western medicine treatment of this disease is still mainly based on thyroid hormone replacement therapy，but this therapy and other non-specific immunotherapy are not effective in intervening the immune damage process of Hashimoto thyroiditis and the accompanying multi-system damage that harms health and quality of life.Based on the basic theories of traditional Chinese medicine，this paper discusses the mechanism of treating gall from the theory of liver based on the theory of HUANG Yuanyu's “Yiqi Zhouliu”.He proposed that the treatment principal of the gall is soothing liver and resolving stagnation for eliminating gall，soothing liver and invigorating spleen for eliminating gall，softening the liver and nourishing yin.Each of the representative prescriptions such as Chaihu Xuanfuhua Decoction，Chaihu Shaoyao Banxia Decoction，Wengan Decoction，Ejiao Jizihuang Decoction are listed for reference，in order to give full play to the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine，to improve clinical efficacy and to be beneficial to patients with Hashimoto thyroiditis.
