Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has unique advantages in improving complex clinical symptoms of tumors，but the deficiency of symptom evaluation methods seriously restrict TCM advantages.On the basis of summarizing the current specific methods of symptom evaluation，the authors hold that the following problems exist in symptom evaluation of TCM oncology field：lack of unified standard for symptom selection; lack of specific implementation for symptom evaluation; Multi-symptom quantification methods lacks scientific basis; lack of specific symptom scales for different treatment stages; difficult application for potential symptom evaluation index.In view of the above problems，the following recommendations were suggested：to establish the evaluation criteria and implementation norms of TCM oncology symptoms，to explore quantification of symptom clusters; attach importance to the follow-up evaluation and validation for TCM PRO scale; to develop stage-specific symptom scales; to explore new symptom evaluation methods，so as to establish a TCM tumor symptom evaluation system that with both scientificity and TCM characteristics.
