To compare the similarities and differences in the medication patterns of famous traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) veterans in Lingnan and North China in treating non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods:The prescriptions of famous TCM veterans in Lingnan and North China for the treatment of NAFLD were collected from databases and books,and the similarities and differences in the prescriptions between the two regions were analyzed from the perspectives of drug frequency,category,property,taste,meridian tropism,and drug combination.Results:There were 16 common high-frequency herbal drugs in the two regions.The main herbal drug categories were tonic,damp-draining diuretic,and blood-activating and stasis-resolving drugs.The overlapping core herbal drug combinations were Rhizoma Alismatis,Fructus Crataegi,Radix Curcumae,Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae,and Radix Bupleuri.The differences lied in that in Lingnan region,herbal drugs contributing to spleen channel were more used(P<0.05),such as Radix Paeoniae Alba,Semen Cassiae,Poria,Radix Glycyrrhizae,Folium Nelumbinis,Semen Raphani,and Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng(P<0.05); while in North China,Radix Paeoniae Rubra,Radix Astragali seu Hedysari,Radix Angelicae Sinensis,and Rhizoma Corydalis were more used.Conclusion:The basic treatment principles of NAFLD were invigorating spleen,removing dampness,promoting blood circulation,regulating qi,and eliminating stagnation in the two regions.The medication rules in Lingnan region were characterized by invigorating spleen,removing dampness,replenishing Qi,nourishing Yin,regulating Qi,resolving phlegm,with mild herbal drugs; while those in North China focused on soothing liver,promoting blood circulation,nourishing liver and clearing heat. |
