Data mining was used to elucidate the medication law of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) for post-traumatic brain syndrome(PTBS) from the perspective of blood stasis. Methods:We searched relevant articles from China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),China Biology Medicine(CBM),China Science Periodical Database(CSPD),and Chinese Citation Database(CCD) to obtain relevant data and a database was established. Then data mining techniques such as frequency count, association rules analysis, cluster analysis, and factor analysis were used to analyze the core medicinals and medicinal pairs(groups). Results:A total of 118 articles on the TCM treatment of PTBS were included, involving 128 prescriptions and 184 medicinals. The cumulative frequency of the medicinals was 2 025,and the top 10 frequently used medicinals were Radix Angelicae Sinensis,Rhizoma Ligustici Chuanxiong,Radix Paeoniae Rubra,Radix Astragali seu Hedysari,Semen Persicae,Flos Carthami,Rhizoma Pinelliae,Radix Glycyrrhizae,Rhizoma Gastrodiae, and Rhizoma Acori Tatarinowii.Particularly, the majority of medicinals were “warm” in property and “sweet” in taste, with liver tropism.Association rules analysis yielded 21 medicinal combinations with high support and the core medicinal pair was “Semen Persicae-Flos Carthami”.Cluster analysis classified the medicinals into 5 clades and factor analysis resulted in 8 common factors. Conclusion:In the TCM treatment of PTBS,blood-activating and stasis-resolving medicinals are mainly used, which are supplemented by qi-regulating medicinals, tonic medicinals, tranquillizing medicinals, etc. The association rules analysis suggests that the core formula is Taohong Siwu Decoction. In addition, meidicinals with warm property, sweet taste, and liver tropism are mainly used.
