As a traditional dosage form，traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) pills have the characteristics of easy storage，long-lasting efficacy，and convenient administration.TCM drugs are made into pills clinically based on the characteristics of drug properties，toxicity，disease nature，constitution，and disease，and they are suitable for the clinical treatment of late chronic diseases.The dual modes of the combination of multiple technologies and new process exploration have advanced in the research on excipients，extraction technology，quality evaluation，drying，and microbial inactivation.The present study systematically reviewed the research progress on TCM pills in recent five years，aiming to provide references for the application of TCM pills in production.
