Scleroderma belongs to the category of “impediment syndrome” in traditional Chinese medicine.The definition，classification，etiology，pathogenesis，treatment，and prognosis of impediment syndrome in The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic have laid a theoretical foundation for diagnosis and treatment to impediment syndrome.This paper demonstrated that scleroderma belonged to the category of impediment syndrome，which included all kinds of five-body constituent impediment syndrome and five zang-organ impediment syndrome in The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic.Guided by the impediment syndrome theory in The Yellow Emperor's Inner Classic，combined with the clinical manifestations and modern pathological mechanism of scleroderma，this paper discussed the pathogenesis and treatment of scleroderma from the perspectives of the pathogen，deficiency，blood stasis，and disease transmission.
