To analyze the research status of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of infantile pneumonia by using the bibliometric software CiteSpace and VOSviewer, and clarify the research hotspots and frontiers. Methods:The China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) was searched for the related research from 2000 to 2020 with the keywords of “traditional Chinese medicine” and “infantile pneumonia” or “pneumonia in children”.COOC was used to generate the annual distribution of published papers.CiteSpace and VOSviewer were used to generate the network map about the cooperation between authors and institutions, and to reveal the hotspots and frontiers of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of infantile pneumonia. Results:A total of 1,015 studies related to the treatment of infantile pneumonia with traditional Chinese medicine were retrieved from the CNKI.WANG Xuefeng was the most prolific author(43 articles) in this research field. There was no core author team between authors and institutions.Members within the team are in close cooperation, and some cooperation is carried out between the teams. The research focuses on the syndrome of phlegm heat obstructing the lung and of wind heat obstructing the lung, combined treatment of traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine(e.g.,Azithromycin combined with traditional Chinese medicine),cough manifestations, clinical observation, and new therapies such as acupoint application and infantile massage. Conclusion:Based on the results, the main research trends included the treatment of infantile pneumonia based on different syndrome types, especially the research of Azithromycin combined with different traditional Chinese medicines in the treatment of mycoplasma pneumonia, and acupoint application combined with traditional Chinese medicine nursing, which may become a research hotspot.
