According to data mining, network pharmacology, and molecular docking technology, the medication rule of Chinese herbal decoction and the mechanism of core formulas in the treatment of female perimenopausal syndrome(MPS) were explored. Methods:The basic prescriptions of many physicians for the treatment of MPS were collected from four Chinese databases:China national knowledge infrastructure(CNKI),Chinese biomedical literature database(CBM),China Science Periodical Database(CSPD),and Chinese citation database(CCD).The traditional Chinese medicine inheritance computing platform(V3.0) was used to analyze their medication rules and mine core formulas.Network pharmacology was used to explore the mechanism of the core formula in the treatment of MPS,and the results were verified by molecular docking technology. Results:In this study,a total of 704 prescriptions were collected, involving 235 herbs, and the involved prescriptions were analyzed in terms of drug frequency, properties, tastes, and meridians. Then the core formula consisting of Rhizoma Dioscoreae,Cornus Officinalis Sieb.Et Zucc.,Rehmanniae Radix Praeparata,Radix Bupleuri,Paeoniae Radix Alba, and Angelicae Sinensis Radix was selected.A total of 72 active components and 97 core targets of the core formula were selected by using network pharmacology.Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes(KEGG) pathway enrichment analysis showed that the treatment of female MPS by core formulas may be related to the prolactin signal pathway and phosphatidylinositol-3 kinase/protein kinase B(PI3K-AKT) signal pathway, etc.Molecular docking showed that the estrogen receptor alpha gene(ESR1) could well bind to Hydroxygenkwanin. Conclusion:The main therapeutic principle of Chinese herbal decoction in treating MPS is nourishing yin and soothing the liver. The mining of the core formulas provides some ideas for the standardization and internationalization of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of MPS.The results of network pharmacology and molecular docking provide a theoretical basis for the treatment of MPS by core formulas.
