Interpretation and A Medical Case of the Guideline for Traditional Chinese Medicine Intervention after Conventional Western Medicine Treatment of Stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ Colorectal Cancer
The Guideline for Traditional Chinese Medicine Intervention after Conventional Western Medicine Treatment for Stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ Colorectal Cancer, initiated by the China Association of Chinese Medicine on March 9,2020,was drafted by 18 experts from 12 institutions in China and officially released by the China Association of Chinese Medicine in July 2022.This guideline used the Delphi method to identify five clinical questions and provided evidence-based answers.Colorectal cancer is a common malignant tumor, and its high incidence is related to poor lifestyle, dietary changes, and environmental factors.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has accumulated extensive clinical experience in the treatment of stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ colorectal cancer and has shown unique therapeutic effects.Numerous studies have demonstrated that TCM can be used as a complementary and alternative treatment after conventional western medicine for colorectal cancer. In order to standardize the TCM diagnosis and treatment for stage Ⅰ-Ⅲ colorectal cancer after conventional western medicine treatment and improve its scientific level and applicability,Xiyuan Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences,in collaboration with multiple institutions nationwide, jointly developed this guideline. To enhance the applicability of this guideline and facilitate its use by clinical practitioners, the mechanism of onset, diagnosis, syndrome differentiation, treatment, and clinical issues were interpreted.Additionally, the generation of the clinical questions in the guideline was illustrated using a typical medical case.A research team composed of experts involved in the development of the guideline and medical students participated in the interpretation. There were no academic or commercial conflicts of interest among the personnel involved in the interpretation of the guideline.
