To reveal the distribution features of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) syndromes and syndrome elements and the medication rules of colorectal polyps(CRP).Methods:The clinical studies about the TCM treatment of CRP were retrieved from major Chinese academic journal databases and screened based on inclusion and exclusion criteria.The syndromes and TCM prescriptions were extracted from the included articles and used to establish a library in Microsoft EXCEL 2016.SPSS 22.0 was used to analyze the distribution rules of TCM syndromes and syndrome elements，and the Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance Support System(V2.5) to conduct descriptive statistics and association rule mining.Results:A total of 112 articles(42 articles about TCM syndromes and 70 about medications) were included in this study.The common syndromes of CRP were heat and dampness of large intestine，spleen deficiency and dampness stagnation，dampness obstructing intestine，yang deficiency of spleen and kidney，and qi deficiency of spleen and stomach.The major locations of CRP were spleen，large intestine，kidney，liver，and stomach.The frequent syndrome elements of CRP were dampness，qi deficiency，heat，qi stagnation，blood stasis，and yang deficiency.The 94 prescriptions for treating CRP contained 156 herbs.The association rules were mined under the conditions of support being 10%，15%，and 20% and the confidence being 60%，which yielded 21，9，and 6 core drug combinations and 450，63，and 27 association rules，respectively.Conclusion:CRP is caused by internal deficiency and external excess，with the combination of deficiency and excess.The internal deficiency mainly involves qi(yang) deficiency of the spleen and yang deficiency of the kidney.The external excess is reflected in heat and dampness of large intestine and blood stasis.The disease mainly attacks the spleen and large intestine and is closely related to the kidney and liver.The primary syndrome elements were dampness，qi deficiency，heat，qi stagnation，blood stasis，and yang deficiency.The treatment of CRP should follow the principle of invigorating spleen and draining dampness.Shenling Baizhu Powder is the fundamental formula for CRP and it can be modified with the herbs for warming and tonifying，clearing heat，regulating qi movement，and activating blood.
