This paper analyzed the current situation and research hotspots of brain-gut axis theory in the field of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and clarified the development trend of the field,so as to provide ideas and basis for the clinical and basic research of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of IBS.Methods:Research literature on the treatment of IBS with brain-gut axis theory in the field of traditional Chinese medicine published in the CNKI database was searched and collected.The retrieval time was from 2000 to 2021.CiteSpace software was used to visually analyze the authors,institutions,and keywords in the selected literature.Results:Finally,176 pieces of literature meeting the requirements are included,and the annual volume of publication is gradually increasing; Wu Haomeng,Huo Qingping,Chu Haoran,and Wang Yinghan are the research teams that make the greatest contribution to this field; Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,Guangzhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine,and Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine are the institutions with the largest volume of publication.Research hot words include brain-gut peptide,5-hydroxytryptamine,Tongxie Yaofang,liver depression and spleen deficiency,etc; the research content focuses on traditional Chinese medical therapy,experimental and mechanism research,and treatment methods and prescriptions.Conclusion:In the past 20 years,the research on the treatment of IBS with brain-gut axis theory in the field of traditional Chinese medicine has made outstanding achievements.At present,the research focus is to summarize the clinical experience and improve the curative effect of IBS with traditional Chinese medical therapy.The research trend is to regulate brain-gut peptide and intestinal microecology.
