To observe the effect of LU's Ba-Duan-Jin on gut microbiota in patients with fibromyalgia(FM).Methods:Ten patients admitted with FM from June 2019 to May 2022 who completed 12 weeks of LU's Ba-Duan-Jin practice and improved their Visual Analogue Scale score by no less than 50 % following intervention were selected from Guang'anmen Hospital of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.Fresh fecal samples were collected before and after the practice of LU's Ba-Duan-Jin,and the total DNA of the fecal samples was extracted.Primers were designed according to the V3-V4 hypervariable region of the 16SrDNA coding gene for amplification, and the HiSeq platform was used for high-throughput sequencing. The difference in intestinal flora before and after intervention was compared. Results:LU's Ba-Duan-Jin can significantly reduce the scores of the Visual Analogue Scale, the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire, the Beck Depression Inventory, and the Multidimensional Fatigue Inventory in FM patients.A total of 1 404 904 valid sequences were obtained after sequencing, with an average number of 70 245.2 sequences per sample and an average effective length of 419.75 bp.There was no statistically significant difference in the Alpha and Beta diversity of gut microbiota in patients before and after the intervention of LU's Ba-Duan-Jin.After the intervention, various bacteria were increased or decreased at the phylum and genus levels, but no statistically significant difference was observed. The results of linear discriminant analysis effect size showed the increased relative abundance of Veillonella species with a statistically significant difference before intervention. Conclusion:LU's Ba-Duan-Jin may play a role in the treatment of FM by regulating gut microbiota represented by Veillonella.
