Angiogenesis plays an important role in the proliferation，invasion and metastasis of malignant tumor cells.Anti-angiogenesis drugs have been effective in the medical treatment of malignant tumors.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has the advantages of multi-component，multi-target，multi-link and small adverse reactions in the treatment of tumor.Explaining the pathogenesis of tumor angiogenesis with the theory of collateral disease has become one of the research hotspots in TCM in recent years.The treatment of “dredging collaterals and activating blood”，based on the theory of “TongLuo”，has been widely used in clinical practice，and the drugs of which are also important Chinese medicines in the meridian formulas，which are more severe and more important in removing diseases.The article outlines the relationship between the theory of collateral disease and tumor angiogenesis and the therapeutic effects of the drugs of dredging collaterals and activating blood worm chinese materia medica in malignant tumors，demonstrates the anti-angiogenic mechanism of the commonly used drugs and classic formulas of dredging collaterals and activating blood worm chinese materia medica in tumors，and puts forward the strengths and deficiencies in the theoretical and experimental study of anti-tumor angiogenesis，so as to provide references for the follow-up further research.
