To explore the effects of Jianpi Wenshen Formula(JPWSF) on the levels of immune cell-related factors in the ascites model of sarcoma-180(S180)-bearing mice.Methods:Sixty C57 mice of 5 to 6 weeks old were randomized into a model group,a cisplatin group,a cisplatin+low-dose(9.75 g/kg) JPWSF group,and a cisplatin+high-dose(19.5 g/kg) JPWSF group,with 15 mice in each group.A ascites model of S180-bearing mice was established.The mice were administrated with cisplatin at a dose of 0.2 mg/kg by gavage on days 1,4,and 7 of each week for four weeks.JPWSF was administrated at corresponding doses once a day for a total of 4 weeks.The model group received intraperitoneal injection of an equal dose of normal saline on days 1,4,and 7 of each week for 4 weeks.The tumor weight,tumor inhibition rate,ascites liquid volume,red blood cell and tumor cell counts,carcino-embryonic antigen(CEA) level,and levels of immune cell-related factor were compared between groups.The survival time of the mice was recorded.Results:Compared with the cisplatin group,the additional administration of JPWSF increased the tumor inhibition rate in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.05).Compared with the model group,the cisplatin,cisplatin+low-dose JPWSF,and cisplatin+high-dose JPWSF groups showed decreased tumor weight,ascites liquid volume,red blood cell count,and tumor cell count,lowered levels of CEA,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),and interleukin-4(IL-4),elevated level of interferon-gamma(IFN-γ),and prolonged the survival time(P<0.05).Compared with the cisplatin group,the additional administration of JPWSF reduced the tumor weight,ascites liquid volume,red blood cell count,and tumor cell count,lowered the levels of CEA,VEGF,and IL-4,elevated the IFN-γ level,and prolonged the survival time in a dose-dependent manner(P<0.05).Conclusion:JPWSF significantly inhibited the tumor,reduced the ascites liquid,lowered the VEGF and IL-4 levels,and elevated the IFN-γ level in the ascites model of S180-bearing mice.
