There is a close physiological and pathological relationship between the gut microbiota and coronary heart disease(CHD),as the structure and metabolites of the gut microbiota affect the occurrence and development of CHD.In recent years, there has been significant attention in the field of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) on the influence of the gut microbiota on diseases. The gut microbiota mainly affects CHD through mechanisms such as inflammation-induced endothelial damage, disruption of lipid metabolism, promotion of thrombosis formation, and oxidative stress-induced endothelial damage.By analogy, this mechanism is found to be analogous to the TCM pathogenesis processes of spleen-stomach disharmony, loss of nourishment of original qi,and internal generation of pathogenic factors related to yin-fire imbalance. Therefore, the theory of yin-fire can guide the regulation of the gut microbiota to treat CHD.This approach can provide new perspectives for the clinical prevention and treatment of CHD with TCM,as well as for scientific research in this field.
