Chronic kidney disease(CKD) involves kidney structural and functional damage caused by multiple factors. However, its pathophysiological mechanisms are complex, and conventional Western treatments often have significant side effects, including liver and kidney dysfunction,as well as bone lesions. In contrast, integrative treatment combining Chinese and Western medicine can reduce adverse reactions and improve therapeutic outcomes.Research has found that several key signaling pathways, including hedgehog(Hh),mammalian target of rapamycin(mTOR),nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2/antioxidant response element(Nrf2-ARE),and Toll-like receptors(TLRs)/nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κB),play crucial roles in the pathogenesis of CKD.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) has shown potential in exerting anti-inflammatory,antioxidant,antifibrotic,and microcirculation-improving effects.Due to its multi-faceted actions and broad target range,TCM treatment offers high safety and good tolerance, making it an important component in clinical treatment.
